Becky's Birthday Celebration (And Dad's Birthday)

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY! =) Wish I could be home to celebrate, I hope the snow doesn't ruin any of your plans. Miss you lots and in May, I swear you'll get a present.. (what do you want) Just kidding! But really. Anyways I hope work didn't suck too much today and I'm sure we will Skype later!

This weekend wasn't bad. I believe we left off on Saturday, where I stayed in followed by Sunday where I stayed in as well and worked on a few things and hung out with my friends. Nothing particularly interesting that I can think of needs to be mentioned. It was great to finally sleep in though! Kristin, Lauren and I walked into Harrow to get a few things from Primark, TK Maxx—the Bristish TJ Maxx, which is pretty much the same but less respectable apparently than in the states?—and a few other stores. Monday however, the three of us went into the city and on the way there about the first few days here. Feels like forever ago but really we've only been here a reminisced few days shy of a month. Crazy huh? We didn't actually have any plans but we all now have monthly passes (that were £105 might I add) so we feel the need to get our money's worth and go into the city a lot. Once there, we went to Covent Gardens, were we've been before but never in the day time. It's really not much different besides the fact that all of the little markets were actually open. But compared to Camden and Portobello, it's nothing special. We then grabbed some coffee and planned out the rest of the day. We decided to go to Oxford Circus because we were starving and they have almost everything there. It was here that we came across a store "New Look." And the top floor is filled with adorable and cute shoes. Well it was bad and we all left with a pair. I had been looking for brown boots and well, I found them for £20 (yeah, yeah I know Mom, they'll fall apart) but whatever, cause they're cute and I'm on a budget! After our exciting purchases, we stopped for lunch at this cute little place down an alley. They had macaroni and cheese or as they call it, cheese macaroni with garlic and bacon. Yeah, I got it and it was fantastic. But I feel so guilty spending money on food like that but the damage is done. We then headed to one of the campuses so that Lauren could get a sweatshirt and Kristin could buy one of her books—besides not having any finals, I also don't need to buy any books, woo! We then headed back into Harrow for naps and showers in preparation of a very messy Monday.

There was a Toy Story themed party on at the flat next to mine. We were hemming and hawing about dressing up and finally (after a drink or two) decided why not! Gerri, Becky, Kristin and I all dressed up as the little squeaky aliens, you know, "THE CLAAAWWWWWWW." The costumes there were so good (obviously, as most of the kids on this campus are fashion design majors.) Everyone looked really cute and Sophia was the san clown from the 3rd movie and Ayesha was the penquin, Weezy. So cute! After a little while of that, we went to the student bar, the SU or the Undercroft, I'm not really sure what people around here actually call it. It was a lot of fun and we bought Becky a shot of tequila for her 20th birthday! It's funny how much younger my friends are here. Ayesha and Gerri are only 18! I always for get they are like freshmen but that don't use those terms here. Anyways, I think they look a lot older and some of them act older. Needless to say, it was a lot of fun and for the first time, a British guy actually took interest in me. Funny because it took me to have my face painted like an alien for that to happen? Haha. Oh well, it was pretty funny and I ran into loads of people there. Around 12:45 (the bar closes at 1:00 on Mondays) Kristin and I were ready to go. So we stumbled back to our rooms together but the night didn't end there. Shortly after I came back, my flat mates did as well so we were up for a while in the kitchen.

Three face whips and a few face washes later, the green paint was finally off my face and caused me to break out—by the way, showering here never makes you feel clean, ask any American, my hair looks dirty after one day and I have zits all over my face—but we failed to realize that the paint kind of stained! Becky woke up late for class, so she walked around all day with a faded green face. Talk about a great birthday! Luckily, I was able to sleep until about noon but my room is covered with green glitter and a shower didn't take it all off of me. So tonight, we just had dinner in the kitchen with and I met two more of Becky's friends, Shontelle and Pheobe, very sweet girls. We sat around and had a delicious "pasta bake" what I think is supposed to be technically like ziti but just different as everything is here. Well it's almost 2am and I have yet to skype with Pops for his birthday and I have my 9am in the city tomorrow! YIKES. Oh and don't worry, I did write that cover letter I was supposed to do. Go me!
